Abstract: |
The construction industry is blooming and the cost of commercial and residential buildings are increasing day by day also causing CO2 emission about 4 billion tons. Bubble deck slab is a technique of removing concrete from the middle of the slab and replacing it by hollow balls of recycled plastic waste. The advantages include Cost efficient, Green technology, less use of natural resources. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Reuse if plastic waste, which takes up to 450-500 years to decompose. Currently, Pakistan is facing the problem of plastic waste generation with over 3.9 million tons of waste was estimated to had generated in the year 2020 and by 2050 it will increase to 6.2 million tons per annum. |

This idea will benefit the entire construction industries, including labors to contractors, owners and manufactures. It will help reduce the cost of construction resulting in affordable housing units and economical and light weight mega structure. |
How will the solution works |
Bubble deck slab is defined by the spheres of specific size work, placed in between reinforcement grid. It produces 20% faster floors with limited formwork, which minimizes the cost by 12%, reduction in CO2 emission by 11% and reduce concrete use by 32%. The formwork of bubble deck slab is identical to conventional slab, the main difference is that there are hollow core balls embedded in between the reinforcement of slabs. This allows stronger, lightweight and larger span areas. |
