| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| The water accessibility has reduced in Pakistan from 1,299 m³ per capita in 1996-97 to 1,100 m³ per capita in 2006 . Pakistan is turning into a water deficit country. Therefore, use of all water sources for example wastewater has become a necessity especially for agriculture and irrigation purposes. |

| The local people of Pakistan need it as a source of water as well as for the sake of sanitation and prevention of diseases.

| How will the solution works |
| Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System is a wastewater treatment technology. Our solution brings innovation in this system by replacing the conventional media (Granular Activated Carbon) in the Tertiary Treatment by a cost efficient hybrid media. the media will be formed by coating outer part of PVC pipes with powdered activated carbon(PAC). A biofilm will form on the inner side of the PVC which will remove metals and organics, while the PAC will remove the nitrogen and phosphorus. |

| A lot of work is under progress on DWTS but little work is done on tertiary treatment thus it is new research and can open gateways for new research. It is different as it combines different mediums that will work as one for removal of contaminants while in past an individual substance was used |
