Abstract: |
An indoor soiling station with more advancements and cost reduction has been designed to study and mitigate the losses caused by different environmental factors like soil, wind, humidity, etc. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
In Pakistan, the Solar PV system undergoes fast degradation and loss of 30% efficiency within 3-4 years of operation. An indoor soiling station is required to test the PV performance under different environmental factors and find better solar sites at optimized operation. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
This soiling station can help the PV installation industry for finding better solar sites, the PV manufacturing industry to test the solar cells under critical environment, and can help research groups to test the anti-soiling coatings, cleaning methods of PV modules under stimulated conditions. |
How will the solution works |
This soiling station is able to stimulate the outdoor conditions in a few hours by using a humidifier, Peltier fans, LTE floodlight, compressor, and wind tunnel. Thus saving the time for testing of lab-scale solar under critical environment, helping the PV industry to test their PV materials in accelerated conditions, and enabling energy policymakers to choose better solar sites. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Competitors of this proposed design are negligible locally as there has not been any reported proper design of indoor soiling station in Pakistan by any research group so far. At the international level, the reported indoor soiling station have cost issues and automation of processes. |
