Abstract:
    Design and development of a novel riveting process for hard to access aerospace and automotive joints. The project aims to improve the strength of already existing joints.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    The project aims to introduce a novel riveting process having a joint strength that is better than the joint that is created using the existing riveting process. This will help to prevent the failure of the joint which can be much useful.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The project will help to improve the joint strength of the metal sheets that are mostly used in the aerospace industry. These joints are also used in the mechanical industry.
How will the solution works
    The novel process that will be developed will use a rotating rivet as a tool that will be inserted in the sheets of the metal. This rotating rivet will generate some heat that will be used for the formation of a chemical joint. After penetration of the rotating rivet into the sheets, the compression force will be applied in some way that will form the mechanical joint.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    The competitor of the process in the conventional riveting process. The process is different from the competitor process because it used chemical as well as a mechanical fastening for the formation of the joint.
