Abstract: |
The framework of this study is twofold: investigating the correlation between results from PLT tests with SPT and UCS/ Triaxial tests based on varying factors. The second is to develop a computer application with the ability to predict results of bearing capacity and settlements of Standard tests based on Plate load test results and vice versa. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Conducting soil tests for an accelerating population is very difficult.The developed correlations will make it possible at least up to two story buildings for predictions of bearing capacity and settlements in a shorter and more cost-efficient manner as Plate load test is better in both aspects. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
This computer application will speed up the process of soil investigation for geotechnical investigation teams which will benefit not only the investigation teams but also the clients who can accelerate the project speeds to meet the demands of society. |
How will the solution works |
Technical working involves obtaining and pre-processing the test results of SPT, UCS/Triaxial, Plate load tests across locations in Risalpur vicinity. Identifying the correlations through analysis of graphs of bearing capacity, settlements and investigating effects of factors such as plate depth, Liquid and plastic limits of soil under investigation. The last stage would be to develop an algorithm based on our discovered correlations to develop software program that can predict results instantly |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
There is no research focused on the prediction of bearing capacity results. Suraj Kumar from BIT, Sindri has developed a program to predict foundation settlement based on settlement of plate of PLT. Our study is computer application for automated bearing capacity results for upto two story buildings |
