Abstract: |
Drowning is a leading cause of injury-related deaths worldwide and billions are lost in annual agricultural output due to ineffective pest control mechanisms. In Pakistan, where the country has suffered a massive death toll from climate change-induced floods and where agriculture accounts for a significant portion of the GDP, innovative drone solutions can be the simple game-changers |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
1,000+ people died in the recent Pakistan floods, while the agriculture industry suffers from insect-related losses in millions annually. Team Burraq, a drone R&D interdisciplinary team, works on and provides innovative and impactful solutions for aforementioned and other pertinent social issues. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Team Burraq aims to provide purpose-built, cost-effective, and locally-manufactured drones to the local industry. Currently working on agricultural drones alongside intelligent rescue drones will help uplift the living standards of the local distressed community. |
How will the solution works |
Our solution features a fully-autonomous computer vision-enabled drone comprising a high-tech autopilot, integrated with an onboard camera, and a companion computer to detect and navigate toward the target area. Once the drone reaches its target area, it drops its payload which may be a pesticide to spray in the case of our agricultural drone or a life-jacket in the case of our lifeguard drone. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our competitors are drone manufacturers. There is a lack of after-sale services like the repair and maintenance of drones. Therefore the local industry is hesitant to adopt drone solutions. Our solution offers cost-effective, need-centric, locally-manufactured, and modular designs which separate us |
