Abstract:
    We are using microbial fuel cells to generate electricity and use it to power agricultural sensors like moisture, pH, temperature and nutrient sensors. We will connect this sustainable energy system with an IoT platform that will monitor the agricultural land in real time. We are also planning to develop a user-friendly app that would display the data in real time.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Our idea will fulfill the unmet need of sustainable and low-cost energy systems. We believe that microbial fuel cells will provide clean energy for powering agricultural sensors for monitoring the agricultural land.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   We believe that farmers would greatly benefit from MFC based agricultural sensors, as it is both cost effective and easy to operate.
How will the solution works
    We will build microbial fuel cells and use it to power agricultural sensors like moisture, pH, temperature and nutrient sensors. We will then connect this sensor with IoT platform like NodeMCU that has an integrated Wi-Fi chip. The sensor will feed data to the NodeMCU, which will process that data and send it to a cloud platform through its Wi-Fi chip. We will develop a user-friendly app that would retrieve the data from the cloud platform and display it in real time on smartphone.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Our competitors are industries that manufacture lithium-ion-batteries, which are costly, have shorter lifespan, involves the risk of burning and are extremely sensitive to high temperatures. We believe microbial fuel cells are cost effective, environment friendly.
