Abstract: |
In an agricultural production field, the intensity of plant diseases and insect pests varies in different locations. In order to reduce the use of pesticides, it should be sprayed according to the severity of the pest, insect or weed. Therefore we are using the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) variable rate spraying technology, to reduce the use of pesticides through targeted spraying. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
The excessive use of pesticides and other chemicals in the agriculture fields is toxic for the crops but also the person applying them faces many skin diseases. Our focus is on providing safety to the "farmer" and restricting the use of toxic pesticides to areas of requirement. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Farmers are largely benefitted from agriculture drones. They normally need one whole day to spray a field of 2 acres. But a fully developed agriculture drone can spray ~16 acres in just one hour, giving the leverage of targeted spraying. |
How will the solution works |
The initial imagery of the field determines the areas of severe pests and diseases through algorithms of Machine learning and object Detection. This generates a prescription chart which provides the drone with a path to move and spray. The drone is equipped with a controller, storage tank, pumps and nozzles. This variable rate sprayer on the drone sprays according to the generated prescription chart. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Technology in agriculture is a developing industry. We provide spraying services based on field imagery and Machine learning, thus Targeting the areas of severe pests and diseases. This gives us an upper hand over the competitors as they mostly rely on remote-based drones, controlled by a person. |
