Abstract:
    Enhancement of performance, safety, control and efficiency of vehicle through the use of an electronic differential control on an In-Wheel Motor Drivetrain. Mechanical Differential is used to vary speed between the inner and outer wheels of the vehicle during maneuvering and cornering. The methodology applies electronic differential with torque vectoring to smooth steering ability and efficiency.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    This concept has not yet taken root in Pakistan and other developing countries. Industries have carbon reduction initiatives hence are moving towards EVs. The next logical step is to make them cost effective hence have to move towards more efficient powertrain.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Removing the mechanical differential will mean the reduction in cost of manufacturing of set cars hence will reduce the cost of EV's in the market. The automotive industry can take full benefit of this idea as cost , efficiency and traction control is of great importance to them.
How will the solution works
    The solution implies the use of concept known as torque vectoring. In EVS the motor translates torque to the mechanical differential in order to maintain stability while cornering and maneuvering by splitting the speed between the inner and outer wheels. In EVs the mechanical differential can be removed and the VCU( vehicle control unit) can be fed with a program that will mimic the operation of physical differential.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    In a developing country like Pakistan this idea is yet to be implemented so holistically speaking it is a market yet to be explored.In the western side of the world big names like Tesla have shifted all there state of the art EVS towards having an electronic differential rather than mechanical.
