Abstract: |
The main focus of our project is to design and implement a smart campus system. We will achieve our main goal by automating at least one classroom at our university.
In this project, we will be using Arduinos as our controllers and it will be accomplished by integrating thermal cameras and sensors. We will do the simulations on Qt Creator, Open CV, and Arduino IDE to design our system.

What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Pakistan has been facing an energy crisis and despite many efforts, the situation is getting worse. The main causes of the energy crisis are inefficient energy management and wastage of energy and natural resources. This project focuses on the designing a smart campus system to save energy. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Buildings such as University campuses require a lot of energy to function, including the electricity needed for lighting, HVAC and other systems. Becoming a more energy efficient institution means reducing the amount of energy required to achieve a desired result.This can also be used in offices etc |
How will the solution works |
We will design a system in which the room’s lightning will be automated so that when a person enters the room then,through thermal camera, human presence will be detected and lights will automatically get turned on. In same way, the HVAC units will be automated to maintain a certain temperature, and will switch ON/OFF accordingly, which will reserve energy.We also wanted to incorporate a safety option in our project which we will achieve through smoke detection and harmful gas detecting sensors. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our solution is different from others because we are designing an automation for university campuses that consume alot of energy. This system can also be used for other buildings such as offices, hospitals e.t.c. We will use thermal cameras to detect human presence and turn on lights where required. |
