Our idea mainly focuses on adopting green method for synthesizing ammonia from renewable resources, considering rapid change in climate and decline in non-renewable resources. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Ammonia is synthesized by a conventional Haber-Bosch process which is not only energy intensive but it is also dependent on non-renewable resources. With the huge demand of Ammonia as well as decrease in non-renewable resources, there is a dire need to switch to green alternative method. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Ammonia is the major raw material for urea synthesis which in turn is highly valuable and important fertilizer. Manufacturing ammonia by green and sustainable method will reduce the emission of green house gases making our environment clean. |
How will the solution works |
Green ammonia synthesis is a method which solely relies on renewable resources. Hydrogen will be obtained from water by alkaline water electrolysis while nitrogen will be obtained from air by pressure swing adsorption. Nitrogen and Hydrogen will then be fed into electrochemical cell where after reactions at cathode and anode, ammonia will be produced. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our competitors are fertilizer industries who are already producing ammonia from Haber-Bosch process. But eventually, non-renewable resources will run out one day, so these industries will be forced to switch to alternative method and our method is not only green but it is also sustainable. |
