Abstract: |
The project is to make "An Autonomous Robot with Self Navigation & Book Placement for Library". Placing books in the library is a hectic and time-consuming activity. It also needs an expert person who knows about the database and rules of placing a book. This project will provide convenience and save time, money, and effort. This project will serve a critical role towards IIoT and industry 4.0. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Pakistan does not have this technology before. Additionally, this technology can be extended to many other usefull applications. This project can also be considered as initial steps towards industrial 4.0. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
This project will benefit the librarian and everyone related to the library (Institute, reader, etc). Later on, this project and technology can be extended to different fields like placing goods in warehouses, providing medicines to a patient in isolation, managing files in an office, etc. |
How will the solution works |
Initially, the robot will scan the spine label of the targeted book via a camera. A spine label tells us to which category this book belongs. Once it has the required information, it will navigate to the desired shelf. Books in the library are sorted, so scanning the first book on each shelf will decide the position of the targeted book on the shelf. After this, it will place the book in the correct location. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Automation and robotics are not very practical in Pakistan. Moreover, no library in Pakistan uses this technology. So, our project will try to fill this technology gap. There are library robots in some countries; the robots have to memorize the whole database while our robot would not. |
