Abstract:
    The project deals with light weight concrete by using pumice aggregate (natural aggregate). The heavy self weight of conventional concrete makes the project uneconomical. This project is mainly focused on making cellular light weight concrete based on Foaming Agent, Sand, Cement and Pumice. The Pumice based CLWC is considered an environment friendly sustainable material produced with least energy
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    In concrete preparation coarse aggregate is the cheaper material as compared to cement and maximum economy is obtained by using as much aggregate as possible. Aggregates also improve the volume stability and the durability of the resulting concrete. The project will introduce economical construction
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The main beneficiary is the construction industry. As for long the weight of normal concrete has been a main problem. Many high rise buildings are limited to story levels due to the added weight of concrete. Thus using light weight concrete we can enable structures to be constructed in weak soils.
How will the solution works
    A Floating concrete will be developed by using lightweight (Pumice stone) and foaming agent powder as an air entraining agent. It is made by introducing air or gas into concrete slurry, so that when the mix sets and hardens, uniform cellular structure is formed. Thus it is a mixture of water, cement and finely crushed sand. The hydrogen gas when contained in the slurry mix gives the cellular structure and thus makes the concrete lighter than conventional concrete.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Although a lot of work is being carried out to produce light weight concrete but the study and use of pumice as an aggregate is limited. This project will add valuable information to the field of research.
