Abstract:
    Most of the boats & canoes are constructed out of timber, steel and plastic fiber, which leads to deforestation and increased carbon emissions. These materials are costly and are becoming scarce by each passing day. Making of Concrete Canoe will give a solution which is environment friendly, cost effective and sustainable.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Boating industry uses timber and fiber as conventional materials which leads to huge carbon emissions & deforestation, we can use concrete as as an alternative material to produce strong canoes/ boats, which will be more sustainable and cost effective
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Small boats & canoes are used both commercially and for recreational purposes, their application can in local fishing industry, used for recreational purposes, and also for rescue missions in floods.
How will the solution works
    Archimedes’ principle states that the buoyant force on an object equals the weight of the fluid it displaces. Design of the canoe will be selected and volume of the displaced water will be calculated. To keep the canoe afloat its weight should be less than weight of the displaced fluid. The desired floating property of concrete canoe will be achieved by using light weight concrete, while requisite strength will derived using fiber mesh.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Our solution is different because, it will reduce deforestation and carbon emissions (Green Initiative), also concrete is more durable as compared to fiber and timber, its strength properties can easily be manipulated by changing concrete mix design.
