Abstract:
    There is improper fishery wastewater management as well as lack of research in aquaculture, fish nutrition, & sustainable consumption. Industrial CO2 emissions from combustion processes should be utilized instead of its direct release into the atmosphere causing climate change. Furthermore, there is a need to mitigate the energy crisis of diminishing fossil fuel reserves through clean energy technologies. The solution for all these challenges is a microalgal photobioreactor (PBR). Microalgae can be grown utilizing fishery wastewater and industrial CO2 in a column PBR. This project focuses on the optimum design, operation, and monitoring of a lab-scale PBR. The produced algal biomass will be evaluated for its bioenergy value as well as fish feed replacement capacity. The fishery wastewater was collected from a fish farm named as Capital Biofoc, Sector B17 Islamabad. The results will be used to assess the feasibility for development of a large-scale closed continuous system, which can produce microalgal biomass by treating fishery wastewater
