| Climate change is a global concern all over the world in both urban and rural communities. Water scarcity is a key factor contributing to the worldwide climate transformation with adverse implications on current and future sustainability. The conditions may further worsen with the growing population rate of the world. Thus, these circumstances ask for more efficient alternatives for water conservation. Rainwater and wastewater can play a pivotal role in this regard. Rainwater harvesting is a key water conservation approach for the future in vulnerable regions in dry-wet, semi-arid, and arid climatic regions. Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan by area but still, maximum yield is yet to be captured from its lands due to scarcity of water. With the non-availability of glaciers, rivers, etc. low rainfall is also a key factor in its less productivity. With increasing water demand, rainwater collection for non-potable or irrigation uses as well as groundwater recharge is now being considered in many urban areas. Drinking may not be suitable, but it aids the freshwater sources by reducing the pressure on them. This project aims to suggest efficient rainwater and wastewater harvesting techniques to mitigate the water crises in Balochistan and anticipate the effects of conserving rain and wastewater on climate change. | |
