Abstract:
The project is to develop an algorithm for the detection of abnormal activity. Single camera will be used to monitor a scene. First the object will be detected followed by object tracking algorithms. Then in the case of abnormal activity, a warning signal will be generated. This algorithm will be implemented on jetson nano for real-time detection following the idea of edge computing
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
It will enhance the capability of crime investigation and monitoring systems.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Government, especially law enforcement agencies. primarily this project will increase the robustness of their crime investigation systems secondly this would also decrease the personnel required to monitor multiple cameras. This project will also help to monitor behaviour of old people in old homes.
How will the solution works
The algorithms development procedure is divided into three parts. First object detection algorithms, second object tracking algorithms, and finally algorithm to detect abnormal behaviours. After the final development of algorithm it would be ported to an embedded system(jetson nano) for real time detection. This would create a node and thus implementing a concept of edge computing.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Our aim is to make our algorithm robust enough so that it won't miss any abnormal activity while keeping the algorithm computationally efficient as well.
