Abstract: | |
Hydroponic systems require quite simple setup based on the space and amount of intended production of crops. In context of Pakistan, the habituating of prairies, meadows and vast areas of open land, and commercialization has resulted in the reduction in the fodder production. As an alternative to this situation, hydroponic systems have a lot of potential here for implementation
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Pakistan is quite fortunate in terms of the steady growth in livestock business. However, the reduction in the demand-supply process for high quality fodder is causing hindrance in achieving this goal. Hydroponic systems are a cost-effective and resource efficient way for producing barley
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
This system is focused on Livestock Farm Businesses on national scale. Furthermore, urban farmers and fodder suppliers are also a target audience for this endeavor because of its relevance. Because of its cost-effective design, local small-scale users are also a large focus of this project.
How will the solution works
Hydroponic system is a crop production system that works by using periodic water supply and control of ambient conditions i.e. temperature, humidity and light etc. It consists of a pump based water supply system that provides water to crops. At the pipe end, a nozzle is used to spray water. For periodic flow, an electronic timer control system is implemented. To grow crops, perforated plastic trays are used and seeds are put in the soil-filled trays and then ambient conditions are maintained.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Our competitors are the teams and businesses that have established imported hydroponics systems in the local market. The major difference that our solution boasts is the ease of use and the cost effectiveness of the design. Another edge of the proposed system is the customizability and scalability.
