Abstract:
The aim of the project is to provide real time communication between disaster site and planning department through multiple unmanned aerial vehicles that scout the site and simultaneously transmit data of people in distress. The swarm of said UAVs can be accessorized with different attachments and applied for further applications ranging from police surveillance to drone light shows.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
In Pakistan, disaster preparedness and further management is done via on-site evaluations until now. Satellites and manned aircrafts are too expensive to use. According to research, the proposed swarm of drones can potentially reduce the overall disaster response time by approximately 44.46%.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Major beneficiaries include Government Organizations dealing with Floods & Earthquakes, Military and Police for Surveillance Purposes, and Industries for Plant Inspections and Safety Protocol Compliance.
How will the solution works
The prototype involves modification of multiple drones by assembly of required accessories and programming of UAVs to be able to adapt to a cooperative flight of multiple drones for the purpose of surveillance and scouting. The first stage of the project involves programming the drones for formation flight, and following this, would be the drone path planning based on available algorithms for swarm surveillance missions.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
The potential competitors in Pakistan include SATUMA (single drone surveillance), SUPARCO, and Superstellar (swarm drone light shows). Internationally, existing drone manufacturers like Quanser, DJI (Tello), and Parrot (Mambo Drones) are also working on swarm network research and development.
