Abstract: |
Paper based analytical device that can provide plasma separation from blood along with blood quantification within minutes in a single step it is way cheaper, portable and time efficient approach. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Lab on paper. Time and money are the most important resources in today's world, Plasma separation from blood plus blood quantification for different diagnostic approaches can be performed in single step within minutes in low cost as compare to the time taking, costly conventional approach. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Every industry related to health care department will need this device including laboratories, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, even can be sold to individuals who want to perform blood quantification tests safely in house as it is cheaper, portable, time efficient and self explanatory paper device. |
How will the solution works |
The μPAD was fabricated using the wax dipping method, and the final device was composed of blood separation membrane combined with patterned Whatman No.1 paper. μPAD has shown to be functional with human whole blood of 24–55% hematocrit without dilution, and effectively separates blood cells from plasma within 2 min when blood volumes 15–22 μL are added to the device. Microscopy and Bromo cresol green colorimetric assay confirms high purity plasma isolation with no blood cells or cell hemolysis. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
In Pakistan this practice is rare, but worldwide time plus cost effective, portable lab miniature development is the ultimate demand of the health care industry and this device fulfils this need of heath care sector worldwide with least cost and time consumption required for development. |
