Abstract: |
Performance evaluation of bacteria immobilized in natural fibers (Jute & sisal) for autonomous healing in concrete. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Durability is a major concern for designers as well as habitants. It will enhance the durability of concrete. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
The entire society is in need of durable, safe and economic structure. |
How will the solution works |
Jute fiber and sisal are used as potential immobilizers for bacteria in self-healing. Six different formulations are formed and the mechanical strengths and microstructural investigations are carried out. Visual observations of self-healing indicate the surface sealing of cracks whereas Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) tests have been conducted to assess the internal healing of cracks. MATLAB image processing indicates the average % of CaCO3 precipitation in the concrete samples |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
We are using different carrier agents and conditions from the previous research work that have been done. |
