Abstract: |
Xtracto is an easy-to-use desktop app for forensically examining Android devices to find useful artifacts, deleted data and digital evidences which will be helpful in investigations of all sorts. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Android market share is more than 60% and a lot of digital activity, including crimes, takes place on smartphones. The fundamental requirement of a comprehensive, trustworthy and indigenous forensic solution for Android phones is more than ever before. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies, forensic lawyers and/or any organization authorized to deal in digital criminology needs Xtracto for smoothly performing their tasks with the help of a simple, lightweight and easy-to-use desktop application that works for both Windows and Linux. |
How will the solution works |
Xtracto will be a desktop application for Windows and Linux Operating Systems. The front end developed in Electron JS will provide the forensic analyst a wide view of functionality like data extraction, analysis, finding artifacts, image/keyword search etc. that he/she can perform on the Android phone. Back-end routines written in Python will perform these forensic operations without hurting the phone's integrity. It will then automatically generate a detailed report of all findings. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our competitors are both open-source tools like Andriller and commercial tools like XAMN and MobilEdit. Xtracto is cost effective like open-source tools and gives results on industry standards like commercial tools. It’s an all-in-one package. |
