Abstract: |
Project aims at developing a Microbial Fuel Cell that will clean the waste water before disposal into streams & rivers, and will also produce some electricity. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Water from different industries is usually discarded into rivers and streams without treatment, and this practice poses a great risk for the general public as well as for marine life, MFC's will be installed that will cleanse the water before its disposal into river and streams. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Almost all of the industries discard their waste water without treatment into river and streams that poses a great risk to everyone, humans, as well as animals. Our target audience, currently, are all the industries discarding waste water directly into rivers and streams. |
How will the solution works |
We will be developing Microbial Fuel Cells, that will function run on waste water discarded from industries, particularly sugar mill waste water as it is rich in organic compounds, and contains ample amount of microbes as well. These microbes will breakdown the organic content, as a result of which electrons will be produced. These electrons will travel to the respective electrodes and electricity will be generated. Main goal is to purify the water and get rid of harmful organic compounds. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Currently, according to our research, the technology is not being implemented by any of the industries, private or in public sector. |
