Abstract: |
The main aim of this project is to teach school-aged children the effects of global warming through an interactive tactile game to instill problem-solving skills and societal responsibility. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
So far, there are no competitive games in the market teaching children cause-effect-solution of global warming. In classroom, only formal lectures or activities are conducted. This game could be used anywhere to teach about a global issue. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
The youth needs this game. Children at this age absorb information and hence it is crucial for them to understand what the consequences of their actions are and how they can be responsible for a better change. This can be played with 1-4 players in homes, classrooms or anywhere you take it. |
How will the solution works |
This game involves 1-4 players. Each player has their own "board" that consists of a visual thermometer showing the temperature constantly increasing. With the press of a button, each player will receive pieces that will act as "solution" pieces to global warming. With the right set of "solution" pieces matching with your "cause" card, the temperature will decrease and as a result you win the game. However, if the wrong piece is placed, the temperature will keep increasing. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Since there is no existing game in the market teaching global warming to this extent, my game definitely has an advantage. Children don't have much attention span and prefer playing quick competitive games, and if you're unconsciously learning, even better. |
