| PlantX is an AI based solution to monitor carbon offsets using satellite imagery data with a GIS-based application that shows the visual data of tree plantation drives and its changes over the years. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| There does not exist any such system that can provide a web based open source clear imagery of barren or green land through satellite along with a a visual data representation. To conserve our greens and to keep our carbon footprint at minimum we need an app to monitor our forestation drives. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| The aim of this project is to develop a monitoring system for Serena Hotels which is also a main source of funding for this project. Moreover, this GIS- based web application would be beneficial for the venture capitalist to monitor and keep a check on future plantation |
| How will the solution works |
| PlanetX, a GIS-featured web app with following features: Application for land-use and land cover classification in defined Regions of Interest (RoI) marked for plantation. It will make use of open-source satellite imagery and compute Normalized Difference Vegetation. PlanetX, hosted on a server with the following layers: Base map (OSM/Google/Satellite view). ROIs with plantation schemes provided by Serena Hotels, would be graphically depicted over the base map |
| Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
| SUPARCO & NFMS Pakistan are government based organizations that provide such forest monitoring solution but they don’t provide GIS based web application that contains data regarding the forestation and comparison between early years. No such private organizations are actively working in this field. |
