Abstract: |
With this project, we aim to explore the benefits of an electric powertrain utilizing the flexibility of implementing a hub-mounted four motor setup. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Pakistan ranks amongst the top countries where vulnerability index caused by the climate change is very alarming. In 2016, the carbon dioxide emissions per capita increased to 0.87 tons per person . As many countries plan on going fully electric by 2030, Pakistan is far behind in the race. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
By reintroducing the century old concept of electric powertrain, we aim to provide a better, sustainable and a comfortable option to the driver as well as the passengers. All those who employ vehicles for commute, travelling etc would benefit from this project. |
How will the solution works |
This type of traction system consists of individual hub mounted motors on each wheel instead of a single electric motor. This arrangement of motors in the vehicle gets rid of all of the mechanical transmission systems, thus reducing weight, increasing space which was previously taken by the typical propulsion system and providing better road handling.
The motor controller for each individually driven four-wheel drive hub mounted motor will be designed and supervised by a single supervising unit. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Oil industries and automotive manufactures are our main competitors. Electric motors provide full torque at low RPM and compared to their combustion counterparts, have greater flexibility allowing us to implement four motors driving each wheel. Thus, improving performance, efficiency and safety. |
