Abstract: |
Enseal empowers individuals and enterprises to take control over their sensitive data stored in the cloud through novel, secure, privacy-preserving, and efficient searchable encryption schemes. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
In 2021, 98% enterprises experienced cloud data breaches. Although, Cloud provides on-demand availability of resources, data owners lack control over the data stored. Outsourcing encrypted data can achieve confidentiality but it gives rise to the problem of searching and sifting through the data. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Enseal, a searchable encryption mechanism enables individuals and enterprises to handle sensitive data in the cloud and search over it. Enseal will have a profound impact across different verticals where security is essential including the financial sector, healthcare, IoT, law enforcement etc. |
How will the solution works |
1. Cryptographic keys will be generated.
2. Keywords/ objects will be extracted from text files and images.
3. A secure inverted index will be created and outsourced to the cloud along with the encrypted data.
4. If a user wants to search for a document containing a specific keyword/ object, he will generate a search query/ trapdoor and send it to the cloud server.
5. Cloud Server will perform the search on the client’s behalf and send the relevant documents back to the client to decrypt. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Enseal’s competitors include CityDefend, Enveil and Duality. They provide a searching mechanism using resource-intensive homomorphic encryption schemes. Enseal will be a novel, indigenous and lightweight solution, providing a balance between efficiency, security and query effectiveness. |
