Abstract:
Detection of air pockets caused by improper filling in the refrigerator body using non-destructive testing based on thermal imaging and digital image processing.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
The project aims at replacing the destructive testing methods of Quality Assurance procedures that the home appliance industries use, which is not only inefficient but inaccurate when it comes to testing batches at once.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
The project is aimed at the home appliance industries, specifically, the refrigerator industry. This product provides a non-destructive solution for cavity detection and hence, can be used in multiple areas from chassis integrity testing to crack identification.
How will the solution works
The project makes use of a digital image processing algorithm that takes input from a thermal imaging module. The software will use image processing features such as color segmentation, contour plotting, and masking to detect, visualize and localize any cavities in the product.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Presently, only research is being conducted in this field with no active solution available aimed at the product.
