| We are integrating Micro-algae based Microbial Fuel Cell (mMFC) with Microbial Electrolysis Cell (MEC) to treat Wastewater and produce Bio-hydrogen which is a source of energy. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| Our projects is aligned with SDG 6 and SDG 7, we are working towards a solution of water scarcity in Pakistan by treating wastewater, furthermore we are producing Bio-hydrogen which is an excellent and clean source of energy and by adopting Hydrogen as a fuel we can counter Climate Change. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| The common man is going to benefit from it, because water and clean and affordable energy is everyone's need. Globally our project can be an answer to the issues like water scarcity, fuel shortages and climate change. |
| How will the solution works |
| The electro exogenic microorganisms in our Micro-algae based Microbial Fuel Cell (mMFC) will remove the organic waste and treat wastewater and will also emit electrons which will produce electricity, that is used to drive the Microbial Electrolysis Cell (MEC) in which anaerobic bacteria breaks the organic matter at the anode and this results in Bio-hydrogen Synthesis at the anode in anaerobic conditions. Furthermore, on the cathode of mMFC we are growing micro-algae which provides aeration. |
| Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
| Conventional Wastewater Treatment Systems are our competitors. Our solution integrates energy production and wastewater treatment. We offer clean source of fuel Bio-hydrogen and micro-algae biomass which are a source of revenue along with treating wastewater with similar efficiency and less cost. |
