| Human papillomavirus infection leads to the development of cervical cancer in women. Our aim is to target and kill cervical cancer cells by using herpes simplex virus, an oncolytic virus. |

| Due to societal taboo, cervical cancer is usually ignored. Cases of misdiagnosis and late diagnosis are frequently reported. Hence, the treatment options are not very effective. With this therapy, cervical cancer can be treated and the patient would have a chance to live a normal, painless life. |

| How will the solution works |
| Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) is known to exhibit oncolytic behavioural. We propose the use of a third-generation HSV to kill the cervical cancer cells. The HSV virus will be engineered to remove its pathogenic genes. The in vitro efficacy of recombinant HSV on human cervical cancer cell lines will be evaluated. |

| Our competitors are pharmaceutical companies who are working on immunotherapies for cancer. The solution we provide is innovative because we are using HSV as a tool to kill cervical cancer. Not many people are working on this in Pakistan yet. |
