Abstract:
This study will analyze characteristics of admission process for PG students currently practiced at NUST which includes evaluation of trends/tendencies, completeness and balance of variables.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Assuming the admission process of NUST for PG students is based on subjective assessment, there is a need to evaluate or develop evidence based practical indigenous solutions using sufficient information/data keeping in view the local constraints.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Efficient, complete and balanced policy would benefit NUST so as other universities of Pakistan for adoption of a uniform admission policy. A step toward uniform admission policy will create harmony between universities and clarity to the applicants.
How will the solution works
The study will address following interesting questions: a. Is NUST valuing/respecting the UG of the country? b. Is GAT a true representative of the aptitude of Pakistani students? Are we over ambitious in following best international practices without considering the local limitations? How much NUST is losing financially by relying on GAT? c. How much an interview is important for the students intending to opt for admission in NUST?
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Assuming that NUST or any other university in Pakistan is practicing admission processes based on subjective assessments. None of the study so far has provided data driven solutions. We will use information of more than 10000 applicants over a span of 6 years to evaluate the process.
