Abstract:
The project proposed outlines a holistic cost-competitive, smart home water management system used to tackle the issue downstream geared towards the challenges a third-world country faces.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
There is a clear dearth of real-time water quality monitoring devices present in Karachi where 1 out of five person uses water of poor quality. This could provide an accurate assessment of the quality of water used. Furthermore, it would automate filling of water tanks and temperature control.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
It is primarily geared towards urban consumers from third-world countries. If devised effectively, it can be be adopted throughout the populace with the potential of certain modules being used in a model for smart cities.
How will the solution works
The proposed solution utilizes four ESP modules embedded within the system, with each collecting and transmitting data from the modules dedicated for quality, monitoring and temperature control. A database is setup on cloud where the data is transmitted by the controllers where it is processed and the outputs sent back to the Esp-32 to control our actuators and relays.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
As of yet, none. There are promising initiatives being undertaken that incorporate IoT in water management but they are primarily foreign ventures, being executed in other countries.
