Abstract:
We envision integrated healthcare services in Pakistan. Our unique intervention is art therapy.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
We deal with two interconnected needs: the hindrance people face in living a wholesome life with confidence due to little mental health awareness & the need to integrate physical and mental health in Pakistan
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Patients admitted in hospitals, particularly children. It will supplement any treatment they are undergoing.
How will the solution works
Art therapy allows for emotional expression and healing through non-verbal means. It helps increase self-awareness, cope with symptoms, stress, traumatic experiences and even enhance cognitive abilities. Our solution will work in two phases: 1) imparting art therapy training to psychology graduates through carefully crafted courses designed by leading psychologists, art therapists and visual artists; 2) sending out our trained art therapists to patients in hospitals & therapy clinics.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
Art Therapy & Mental Health Association, Parindey. Our points of differentiation: accessibility of solution; train the trainer model means that we will initiate a chain reaction of social change; focus on course curriculum design and certification; employment of visual arts exclusively.
