Abstract: |
Nitro-benzaldehyde applied to the tumor using targeted nanoparticles and exposed by a beam of UV light causes the cells to become basic and die. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Conventional treatments of cancer are surgical cytoreduction, Chemotherapeutic interventions, and Radiotherapy. All of them have huge limitations and lethal side effects. This procedure provides a less harmful and targeted approach to kill cancer cells and preserve life. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Pakistan is one of the major countries in cancer watch with 178 388 number of new cases, 117 149 number of deaths, and 329 547 number of prevalent cases (5-year) in the calendar year 2020. Adverse effects of conventional therapies are also widely documented. These are the beneficiaries.
|
How will the solution works |
Nitro benzaldehyde is an organic compound that can be used as a therapeutic agent against tumors. when applied directly or targeted by a vector and activation by UV light in the body can cause basic ph in tumors which is not favored by cancer cells and triggers cells towards suicide. our approach is targeted by using different nanoparticles such as magnetic nanoparticles and antigen-specific receptor conjugates. This leads to a much more specific and safer approach. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Right now the major methods of cancer treatment are all extremely invasive and with a lot of harmful effects. surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy all have a lot of complications like cytotoxicity. This approach is a lot safer than all competitions because of its targeted and non-toxic approach. |
