| We founded ‘Seedarette’ with the vision to provide a less-damaging alternative to what is currently available on the market. This is the first cigarette that does not leave plastic behind. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| Globally, 6 trillion cigarettes are used annually. According to WHO, 137,000 cigarettes butts are being thrown, per second, globally. These butts/filters are mainly composed of plastic cellulose acetate fibers, which take years to breakdown. Our product aims to reduce this issue of global waste. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| Cigarette butts inhibit plant growth because of the congenital elements present in it, harming nature. The butt involve polymers, which means that it would be difficult to decompose them. they convert into microplastics and harm humans. Recently even a placenta was born with microplastics in it. |
| How will the solution works |
| we created butts using 100% organic and non-toxic paper, made of fruit or wood pulp, vegetable extracts, flax, cotton, and Manila hemp with no artificial compounds or chemical residue and most importantly herbal and flowering seeds. The average time for degradation of a ‘Seedarette’ filter is 30 days in compost or 2 minutes when dispersed in water at 150-rpm agitation. In comparison, it can take up to 15 years for common acetate filters to degrade. |
