Abstract: |
Our team found that a great deal of excess food is either dumped or left to expire after every such gathering. Froods is the name we give to our student initiative where we bridge the gap to save food |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
With meals being wasted continually, the underprivileged community is quickly being deprived of their fundamental right to have clean food. Community service projects have cropped up time and time again, but the lack of a strict operational approach has often left them undeveloped to suit the needs. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
The disenfranchised community will benefit from Froods’ endeavors. NGOs, NPOs and community service organizations will also receive an advantage. General industries will have employment opportunities crop up. Banquet Halls and caterers will now have an outlet for excess food. |
How will the solution works |
Froods makes the process of food donation a self-sustainable process, with markets competing for donations. Froods has an app that connects areas of food scarcity to areas of food excess. With mapping technology, distributors can see if their food has reached its destined location. APIs with Google Maps helps the user navigate easily. The app is coded by technically adept students and caters to demographics. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
There is no competitor market at the moment which maybe working along the same line of work. However, NGOs, Social Service Organization and NPOs will be aided by our system. Froods makes the process of food donation a self-sustainable process, with markets competing for donations, to get sustainable |
