Recently, a new edition of of Building Code (BCP 2021) of Pakistan is published with a new set of seismic design provisions. A general perception is that new BCP 2021 has more stringent requirements as compared to BCP 2007. This project attempts to solidify that percetion using advanced design and numerical case studies. A set of buildings are selected in medium and high seismic risk regions of the country. The buildings are designed as both the MRF or dual frame systems using both BCP 2007 and BCP 2021. A cost comparison is drawn between structures designed according to both codes. Furthermore, nonliear analysis in idustry standard software would also be made to check the new and old BCP designed buildings | |
