Farming has an important role on the economy of the country. The world is moving towards sustainable soil-less, thanks to modern agriculture techniques, such as Hydroponics. These techniques are widely used in areas where water is scarce. By applying different machine learning algorithms along with IoT, hydroponic plant growth can be automated and monitored simultaneously. | |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? | |
Fundamental reason to develop such systems is to target world hunger, economy, and water management issues. Hydroponics would promote sustainable soil-less farming in areas where water is scarce. Vegetation in these areas is very little; most of which that thrives in unsuitable weather conditions. | |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? | |
Automated hydroponic systems are needed to provide convenience to farmers and provide them with an automated solution capable to optimize usage of precious natural resource, that is water. Farming enterprises also adopt this hydroponic system. | |
How will the solution works | |
Develop a prototype for various plants (tomato and lettuce) in hydroponic system in which sensors are linked with Arduino and Raspberry pi3. Apply ML model to provide suitable control actions to the hydroponic system to obtain high accuracy in real time. Execute ML model at cloud to classify the control actions which are obtained from parameters of hydroponic system. Create a user-friendly experience in both the mobile application as well as the physical interaction with the system. | |
