Abstract: |
We have isolated bacteria that dwell nearly everywhere on earth and can survive in harsh conditions such as in alkaline conditions with pH greater than 10, which are able to precipitate calcium carbonate. This microbial phenomenon can be used for healing cracks in concrete. |

This self healing bio-concrete can repair itself from cracks, thus enabling builders to complete projects timely and at a faster pace. damaged concrete usually require expensive repairs, this idea will save money. Bio-concrete will add to the structural integrity and resilience of cement matrix. |

How will the solution works |
Bacteria lie dormant in the cement material until a crack forms. once a crack has formed, oxygen, water and other molecules are available to the bacteria. the solution we will prepare will contain food which cause the bacteria to produce calcium carbonate. this calcium carbonate is the desired product that will fill the cracks in the cement matrix. |
