Abstract: |
VTOL fixed-wing UAVs provide the long-range and optimum payload conditions of fixed-wing and VTOL ability characteristic of standard drones. Most hybrid UAVs employ a 5-rotor configuration. This leads to higher emissions, larger batteries, and lower payload capabilities. Our novel tilt-rotor design overrides these restrictions, providing longer range, higher altitudes, and greaer controllability. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Applications such as surveillance, mapping, and monitoring require long-range aerial vehicles. Our design gives a cost-effective solution for long-range aerial applications, eliminating the need for open, flat areas for it to operate, making UAVs much more environmentally safe.
|
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Petroleum Industry: Unmanned well-side and pipeline monitoring
Security: monitoring & alerting
Mapping & Inspection: Large-scale mapping. inspectionfor longer ranges with greater hoverability.
Military: reconnaissance, surveying, and research.
Agriculture: Crop spraying, health inspection & mapping |
How will the solution works |
Unlike the designs already available that use separate rotors for the vertical and horizontal motion of the UAV, our design uses the same rotors for both purposes. By closely monitored thrust vectoring, the UAV transitions from a vertical line of flight (take-off) to a horizontal cruise. All this is performed while taking up minimum space for take-off. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Although similar designs are being manufactured, such as those by Censys Technologies and Fixar etc. either these are unavailable in Pakistan or are way too expensive. We aim for an economical design by using indigenous equipment and parts. No National Competitors. |
