Abstract:
    Working in mines will always pose a greater risk than most jobs but the experience can be made safer with effective management. Mining management requires data that we lack. Autonomous 3D mapping via UAVs can allow faster more cost-effective, and safer data collection and spatial mapping. Our idea employs cost-effective dynamic point cloud generation sensors mounted on compact UAVs.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    For a minral-rich country, our mining sector is severly underdeveloped. Improved safety by reducing the need for humans to enter potentially hazardous environments, increased efficiency through more rapid and comprehensive mapping, and enhanced data collection for better decision-making and planning
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Mining companies can use our drone to map mines and optimize resource extraction, potentially improving efficiency and safety. Government agencies responsible for managing and regulating the mining industry or natural resources. Use it to gather data and monitor activities in mines.
How will the solution works
    For 3D modeling LIDAR and ToF (Time of Flight), based sensors are used that create a Point Cloud and store the data. This point cloud is then used to create a 3D model of the mine. However, LIDAR-type sensors render the prototype too expensive to be employed. Our product uses a self-developed distance-measuring sensor for the point cloud generation reducing costs and can be commercialized with great success. This data is transmitted to the ground control station for interpretation and collection
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    WootTech is an aerospace company that Designs & Manufactures customized drone technology including Mapping, Surveying. But mine mapping is a relatively newer application WootTech hasn’t ventured into yet. The biggest advantage we have is that the IMU & installed sensor is self-designed and cheap.
