Abstract:
    Antibiotic resistance is increasing, and new drugs must be developed to counter this. A quick sensing tool for the viability and efficiency of these newly developed drugs needs to be developed to help counter antibiotic resistance.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Our idea will help fulfill the unmet need to discover new drugs to counter antibiotic resistance at a faster pace, considering that the rate at which new drugs are being discovered is slow.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Pharmaceutical Companies and organizations working on researching and developing new drugs require this tool to analyze the efficiency of the newly designed drugs against specific bacterial strains.
How will the solution works
    It has been discovered that bacteria can produce current through their metabolic activities. By stopping its metabolic activities, the current generation ceases. We can use this phenomenon to test newly developed drugs and observe if the drug ceases the bacteria's metabolic activity, which is indicated by a rapid decrease in the current produced.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Our competitors are companies currently focussed on testing newly developed drugs. However, the conventional methods that they use are very time-consuming, expensive, and indirect as some techniques such as gene insertion, for example require labeling. In comparison, our method is relatively simple.
