Abstract: |
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is prevalent in almost 50% of Pakistan’s young girls, yet it goes undiagnosed due to the lack of awareness. Women suffer from an imbalance of reproductive cycles and fertility issues alone. Our mission is to build an app and community that educates young girls about PCOS and provides them with resources to fight it. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
PCOS has no permanent treatment and left untreated can cause severe complications in reproductive health. However, it is easily manageable with the right exercise and diet. Women who are unaware of this condition remain at risk of developing diabetes, infertility and birth complications.
|
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder worldwide, affecting 4-18% of women of reproductive age. The percentage of women affected by PCOS in Pakistan is about 52%. Most of them are college and university girls who can be effectively educated.
|
How will the solution works |
We plan on creating an app and online community that educates women. The app will also serve as a virtual assistant suggesting meal plans for a day, exercises, workout reminders and reminders for breathing or meditation. It provides a holistic guide for managing PCOS that girls can follow and track progress like any other health app, only it is specialized for PCOS. Our online community will provide guidance through videos, informative collaborations and expert reviews.
|
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our competitors include health apps and online influencers who are dieticians or health gurus. Our solution differs from theirs because it not only provides educative content on Instagram but also provides real solutions through the app. It allows users to follow along and track progress.
