Senior Citizens and critically injured people, sometimes lose their motor functions such as speaking and walking. Our project’s goal is to give them the ability to move again. We will make a wheelchair that can be controlled by EEG waves. The waves will be read by an A.I model which will predict basic instructions, such as moving and asking for food, that will be performed by the wheelchair. | |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? | |
The wheelchair will cater to people who have lost their ability to move such as walking and moving their hands. It will allow them to perform basic tasks independently, which will help them gain emotional and psychological stability and ensure their swift recovery. | |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? | |
People who suffer from speaking and walking disability. Heavily injured people and people in paralysis who have limited motor functions will also benefit heavily from it. 0.3 million people in Pakistan deal with some form of physical disability; thus, fall into our target market. | |
How will the solution works | |
The project aims to recognize disabled people's messages by using Machine Learning. The main device for this will be the EEG headset. The electrodes of the device on the head measure the electrical activity of the brain. After filtering, these signals are used to create many sample signals for the training of the machine learning algorithm. The wheelchair can then ,based on the model's predictions, perform those actions through controlling the motors for movement and speaker for voice commands. | |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different | |
The main competitors include electric and hand-held wheelchairs, and caretakers, who assist the disabled in their daily chores. It minimizes the thought of self-deprivation. Furthermore, this product is convenient and efficient, in terms of features, with comparable costs. | |
