Abstract:
Examination of the pathological slide require that the examiner use a staged multi-objective microscope to make their observations. After examination, the slide along with the paraffin embedded tissue are routinely archived. We aim to use it to record multiple digital images of slides of fixed and stained tissues. At the final stage we will train a machine learning model to classify these images.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
We aim to develop a digital imaging-based solution for an affordable and high-quality manual scanning software allowing to upgrade existing microscopes to manual whole slide scanners.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
Diagnostic Laboratories. Everyone will get benefit from it.
How will the solution works
This solution will help to create virtual whole slide images (WSI) for examination of chromogenically stained tissues. After developing a solution to create WSIs, we aim to use it to record multiple digital images of slides of fixed and stained tissues.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
The previous work done on WSI focuses on the slide visualization of the blood sample. The product available in the market is very much expensive and is imported in Pakistan. The diagnosis part is something new we are focusing on in our project.
