Abstract:
Oscillating water column devices are partially submerged hollow structures that form an air chamber with an opening underwater. As the waves rise and fall, the air trapped within the chamber compresses and expands, allowing the turbine to rotate and generate electricity.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Ocean energy has a huge energy capacity and if utilized effectively can meet the energy requirements of the world. Pakistan is facing energy crises since its emergence and depletion of natural resources has worsen the whole situation. It's 1046km of coastline can be used to extract energy from sea.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
The industrial and residential zones near coastal areas.
How will the solution works
We are focused on designing an air chamber in which air compresses which is then used to rotate the wells turbine. When the trough of the sea waves meets the chamber, it compresses the air already present in the chamber and aids in rotating the turbine. When the crest meets the chamber, it sucks air from the surrounding which rotates the same turbine. The turbine rotation is used to convert rotational energy into electrical energy via a generator.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
There is currently no competition with us.
