Abstract: |
The project extensively uses sensors interfaced with the microcontrollers to collect real time data and the program decides how the actuators work. The project is Internet of Things and Machine Learning enabled. The Machine Learning will determine the soil moisture requirement and Rain chances will also be predicted in this project and used in the microcontroller’s decision to run the actuators. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
The excessive use of current fertilizers inhibits the growth of the crops/plants whereas if the irrigation is controlled. There will be less requirement of external fertilizer usage. Which causes both soil and water pollution. This will help in reducing fertilizer and energy consumption. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
From small gardeners to large scale farmers and companies can use this to increase their production by utilizing little labor and make them efficient. As this project can make use of the actual fertility of the soil and preserve it to reduce artificial fertilizer usage. |
How will the solution works |
The microcontroller will take real time sensor data and act as the input for trained machine learning model for finding soil moisture requirement and rain chances. The data will also be uploaded on the cloud to form dataset for future use. The actuators will work on the comparison of the real time sensor data with the requirements. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
We have some international competitors which are in term of cost and locally there is no prototype available yet which has an integrated weather station and controlled irrigation making use of proportionally controlled valves. We are different than other local ones as this will be deployed on field. |
