| Agricultural sector is indispensable to the country’s economic growth. In Pakistan it contributes 19.2 percent to the GDP and more than 65-70 percent of the population depends on agriculture for its livelihood. Despite playing a significant role in the national economy, agriculture production is dropping, which affects economic growth. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| Small farmers in Pakistan are disproportionately impacted by lack of information, erratic weather patterns, soil erosion, yield loss from pests and insects, and rising input and production expenses. To help the farmers transition from the tradition to technology by providing one stop solution. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| When it comes to accepting new technologies, Pakistan has lagged behind. Adopting technology is therefore even more crucial for changing agriculture. Farmers across Pakistan would benefit from this idea as this would answer all the needs from pest identification to profitability. |
| How will the solution works |
| The farmers would use mobile phones to upload crop images to detect diseases. The app would also provide them with the solutions and usage. The added feature of latest agriculture news and new technologies would keep them updated. The app would also provide them with the platform to predict their yield along with a feature to rent the essential equipment. This would be a one stop solution for farmers. |
| Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
| This idea is not being implemented across Pakistan whereas internationally we have Plantix working in the same domain. However we would provide additional features along with disease identification. |
