Abstract: |
Flapping Wing Vehicle or Ornithopters mimic the flight of natural aviators, birds. The propulsion mechanism involves the flapping of a pair of wings to generate enough lift. Our goal is to develop an efficient flapping wing aerial vehicle capable of flying efficiently, while carrying the electronics necessary for its control, in all conditions.
|
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
The fixed wing and rotary wing mechanism-based UAVs can't combine, the need to hover, move at high speeds and maneuver in uneven terrains and at the same time be safe to operate amongst human, which can be achieved by flapping wing aerial vehicles. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
It can be implemented in agriculture to prevent the field from unwanted birds and locust's attack. Secondly it can be used in military domains such as high stealth capability, search and rescue operations. |
How will the solution works |
Birds follow each other and its experimentally proven that birds can't differentiate clearly between ornithopter and real birds, we will use this phenomenon in birds to lead any birds attack on the fields by just implementing ornithopters which will lead them away. Secondly in military operations the stealth is very important characteristic in 6th Gen warfare. Their radar cross section is minimum and capability to fly at low altitudes through difficult terrain make it best suit for military. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Trivial UAVs are the competition for the ornithopters, but they can't prevent the fields from attacks due to their non birds like view. While in military applications UAVs has high radar cross section and their noise level make them unworthy to be implemented in the operations in 6th Gen War zone. |
