Abstract: |
Pakistan is a predominantly agricultural nation, with cotton ranking among the most significant cash crops. 0.6% of Pakistan's GDP and 2.4% of its agricultural output are devoted to cotton production. It does not, however, have sophisticated mechanisms for tracking and simulating cotton growth. Making such a system can lead to outcomes that can be helpful for conscious and responsible production. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
The use of technology to identify and map crops is lacking in Pakistan's Agri-departments, where physical field surveys are still used to estimate crop areas. Additionally, cotton is one of the crops most significantly impacted by the flood this year, thus a system is needed to monitor this impact. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
By using the integrated dashboard we will construct, farmers and decision-makers can easily keep an eye on the cotton crop's productivity and work on strategies to increase yields while improving quality. |
How will the solution works |
Our final solution will be a dashboard that will automatically display the cotton crop region in a certain location when the user enters the district name and year. Additionally, if a user wants information on cotton yield predictions or the effects of the climate, they can request it and receive the findings in the form of maps and graphs. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
We are attempting to compete with Punjab Crop Services' antiquated technology and provide them a more practical and efficient way to identify cotton acreage, its expected output each year, and the climatic conditions most affecting its production by extending it to perhaps 50 years. |
